Welcome to yoonamania where I put down the nonsense that pops up in my head from time to time. Please do not expect to make any sense out of my blatherings. It's called nonsense for a reason. Nor should you expect to enjoy any good writing. My English sucks moose ass. But I don't really care since I'm sure your Korean isn't any better. Please try to keep your expectations low and just chill like potatoes... or beets... or parsnips. Oh and yeah, don't take it seriously unless you think I think you must.

Yours truly, etc. yoonamaniac

WHAT THE FUCK!!! was my natural reaction upon seeing the new monthly payment due for my car insurance renewal this morning. I couldn’t believe I had paid that much in previous months. I quickly logged into my bank to see how much I used to pay, and I found that the current payment is $42 plus more than what I used to pay. I didn’t get any tickets or was I involved in an accident in the last policy term to warrant this increase. I immediately called GEICO customer service to find out why.

The customer service guy was happy to assist me. But after a few moments he seemed stumped, and he put me on hold to investigate. A few minutes later, he came back, apologized for the delay, thanked me for my patience, but it would take a little longer because he’s going to have to talk to the underwriter, and would I mind holding for another few minutes? Of course not, I’d wait. Again, a few minutes later he came back, apologized for the delay, thanked me for my patience, but it would still take a few more minutes, he’s really sorry about the delay again, and would I mind holding a bit longer? No problem, I’d wait. He came back after a few minutes, apologized for the delay, thanked me for my patience, but he’s still looking into it, and could he call me back later? Sure, of course, and I gave him my work number.

An hour later, he called me back, apologized for the delay, thanked me for my patience, and he found out it’s the surcharge for the speeding ticket I got in 2006. I was confoozled. Why would they add surcharge NOW for the ticket I got BEFORE I was insured by them? Shouldn’t that surcharge have been calculated in when they insured me for the first time later that year? He apologized but it seemed the computer SOMEHOW hadn’t picked up the surcharge until this policy renewal. The good news, he cheerfully informed me, was that the surcharge is supposed to be added for 3 years, but I would be paying it only for 1 year.

Eh?

How is that good news? The computer had not picked up the surcharge “SOMEHOW”? It doesn’t sound right. Not right at all…
