I finally upgraded the blog software, WordPress if you haven’t noticed, to the current version. I wanted to put the smileys in some kind of order because I thought it was too hard to find a specific smiley with the way I had it before. But this new version changed the way it displays them, so there is no way I can order them. Drats!
Since I was making changes, I thought I’d change the theme as well cause I really didn’t like the previous theme, but I was too lazy to change it. Well, I finally changed it. I like it fine enough except that I don’t like the fact that the links are not distinguishable from the plain texts in the sidebar, but it is what it is.
Another change I hesitantly made is that I removed Grizzley’s page. I didn’t want to, but leaving his page there is not fair to my other pets I have lost over the years, and I cannot put everybody up here. So there you go. I hope Grizzley understands.
Edited: I changed the CSS to correct the font color of links on the sidebar. Now it does look orangey as Mary told me last night.
It’s all perpstu‘s fault. She joined it and told me I should too. And I did. You know I couldn’t NOT join it when perpstu, a mother of a 5 year old boy, who works full-time while taking courses to get her degree and who is always busying herself with all kinds of craft projects, knitting, not to mention cooking. I had no excuse. So yeah, I joined Blog365 and now I’m suffering the consequences.
So I have to blog everyday for the entire year. And I’m already fresh out of blog fodder after TWO WHOLE DAYS. Oh yes, I knew it would happen and I’d struggle to come up with something EVERYSINGLEDAY. But after two days? The first day was easy because it was the new year’s day and all. The second day my fiercely loyal Brandy gave me inspiration by farting a lot. But today? I just want to take a nap.
Now what?
The economy is on free fall and most of us are clutching our wallets a little tighter and count the change a little more carefully and think twice or thrice before making a purchase these days. And now the holidays are coming and the money doesn’t stretch as it used to. Some very nice bloggers on plurk want to help two peope who are struggling to buy their loved ones presents by holding a contest across their blogs. I was supposed to participate, but having lived the last week in a big hazy blur, I didn’t remember to check my private plurks and I missed the final call.
To enter, go to each of the following blogs between November 23rd through November 26th and comment on that day’s post, one comment per day per blog. If you have a blog, do what I’m doing and blog about the contest to get the word out. They will announce the winners on the black Friday. For more information, go to each of these blogs below. Good luck!
I think I’ve been all plurked out. Maybe it’s just the last couple of days, maybe not. The fact remains that I can’t think of anything to say in a plurk or in response to other plurk. Tonight especially, I found myself reading plurks and responses and tried to respond but drew blanks. Maybe it’s a good thing that I now finally am getting over this addiction.
Sadly, I’ve been trying to think of something to blog about for the last few days as well without success. What’s happening to me…?

Mania, Righteous Rants, Thursday Thirteen

Do you remember my last Thursday 13 post? The title of the post was Food Is My Daddy, and it was a list of signs that I love food a little too much. As is the case with any such subject, it was to laugh at myself and let the readers laugh at my expense with me.
I got a comment that I had to approve because this person had never commented on my blog before. So I read the comment, and it was something like “Excellent strategies and explanations!” Naturally, I was about to mark it as SPAM, but then something caught my eyes. Commentluv had a URL pointing to the commenter’s most recent blog post, which had to do with Thursday 13. So I went to Thursday 13 site to search for the same URL among those who participated. And what do you know, she was one of the participants. Clearly, she was going through each of the participants’ blogs and leaving comments without reading the post, without a cursory glance, not even the title, because would YOU leave a comment like that when the title of the post is Food Is My Daddy? Well, assuming she’s not extremely fucking stupid.
Basically, she was just putting comments to get people to come to her blog and leave comments. Not only that, I noticed that on Thursday 13 site, there is a list of participants’ blogs on the sidebar according to the number of comments left, under the heading of “Most Commented.” And her blog was up there (I’m not going to put her blog link here because I don’t want to increase traffic to her site by doing so). So I marked her comment as SPAM and deleted it. I regret deleting it though since I could have used it in this post.
I know this wasn’t the first time it happened – believe it or not I’m not THAT stupid, and I appreciate it if you left comments without reading my post because you felt I’d be disappointed. But I tell you now, so you know. If you don’t want to read my post, you don’t have to read it. But if you haven’t read it, please don’t comment. Don’t get me wrong. I like people leaving comments on my blog. I love comments. Who doesn’t? I feel loved when somebody leaves a comment. But I don’t want people commenting without reading it just to get comments back and increase traffic to their own blogs. Think about it. That’s the definition of SPAM comments.
So what I’m saying is this. Don’t spam my blog.
